Stopping power (cont'd ...)

DIXCEL rotors finally arrived earlier today !

I immediately called the guys at SEEKER who luckily had some free time this afternoon to install them for me and so here they are installed !

I was running them in on my way back home and immediately noticed 2 clear differences.
The most obvious one, that friction noise I used to hear whilst heavy braking is now gone, and 2ndly braking is now way more balanced and the car is no longer braking more on one side compared to the other.

See yas at Tsukuba this Saturday April 10th !

  1. I'm about to order some of these rotors for my DC5 this week from Japan, I'm all the way in Barbados in the Caribbean. Your the first person I've found that uses them on this car, so thanks for helping me make up my mind

  2. Neil,

Despite being an excellent upgrade rotor for your DC5, there are 2 things you need to keep in mind :
    1. Your pads will wear approx. 60% faster than normal
    2. When you install your rotors, make sure the slots are facing forward to get the most in friction

Otherwise, your lap times will be dropping in no time !

  3. Great looking rotors.
I want to order a set as well.
I'm in the Caribbean Island of Antigua.
I am already presently using Hawk Disc pads so disc pad wear is not a problem for me.
Otherwise, I'm turbocharged and need a lot more brakes!!
How much do those rotors cost??

  4. Lennox Here again.

Anyone know if those rotors can be purchased from a Dixcel supplier in the USA?

I bought these rotors locally for just under 21,000 yen so whichever currency you operate in, feel free to convert.

Also, after about 100kms with the new rotors they are beginning to squeek an awful lot against the Project Mu HC+ pads I have. It is to be expected as the friction coofficients are higher on both rotors as well as pads but I think this calls for pads shims

  8. Hey nice blog you have here Rod
I'm also looking into brakes for my DC5 as stock brembo aren't very good for me at least.
I'm in Panama (central America) and was thinking about project Mu two pieces rotors as I thinks they are lighter than OEM which I think are really heavy...
How light are the dixel ones?

Keep up the good work dude! So we can have references of what parts work and what don’t

    cheers

    Abraham
