Today I went to Craft-A, a tuning shop on the outskirts of Shinjuku recommended by a a fellow YouTuber.
I had my engine oil changed from Mobil1 RP oil to WAKO's TRIPLE R RACING SPEC oil (Japanese brand).
I also had my transmission oil flushed and replaced with NUTEC
Hi Rod!
ReplyDeleteNice to see a fellow gaijin racer. I run a DC2 00' Spec. Been using Castrol Edge 5W40 for the last 2 years. Now thinking of Wako's RRR as well. Please tell me the benefits or changes you notice. I live near Yokohama.
The most obvious difference is in acceleration from my experience with this oil.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you race ?
Hey Rod!
ReplyDeleteI recently switched to Motul 300V 5W40. Upon the recommendation of my friend who is a chemical engineer. He also said the Wakos was really good but suggested I try Motul since the price is the same. Spoon Sports and Seeker both use Motul and they too said that Motul suits VTEC engines well.
I also felt a noticible difference in acceleration, smoothness, oil doesn't reduce like my previous Castrol Edge 5W40. It should last longer too.
I mainly drive with my friends in Hakone. We also go for Track days in FISCO and Tsukuba. But I don't have a FISCO license.
Hey Ken!
ReplyDeleteI was considering Motul so maybe I'll give it a go sometime this year. It should be in line with WAKO's though.
What track days do you attend ?
Hey Rod!
ReplyDeleteI am quite interested to know the difference between both oils. Let me know when you try Motul.
So far I have only attended Track Days (Soukoukai) organised by HKS and Super Autobacs in FISCO and Tsukuba.
We should meet up if you have time at the weekend for a chat. mail me: britishracer@yahoo.co.uk
